Creating Email Sequences
Email sequences are the foundation of your campaigns. Learn how to create multi-step sequences that convert prospects into customers.
What is an Email Sequence?
An email sequence is a series of pre-written email templates that are sent automatically with specific delays between each email. When you launch a campaign, contacts receive each email in the sequence based on the delays you set.
Creating a Sequence
Step 1: Navigate to Sequences
Click Sequences in the sidebar navigation, then click Create Sequence.
Step 2: Sequence Details
Fill in the sequence information:
- Name: Clear, descriptive name (e.g., "Q4 2024 SaaS Outreach")
- Description: Optional notes about the sequence purpose and target audience
Step 3: Add Email Templates
Click your newly created sequence, then click Add Email Template. For each template:
- Subject Line: Can include placeholders like
{{first_name}} - Email Body: Your message content with placeholder support
- Delay (days): How many days after the previous email (0 for first email)
Email Template Best Practices
Email 1: Initial Outreach
- Delay: 0 days (sends immediately when campaign launches)
- Focus: Introduce yourself, mention a relevant trigger or news
- CTA: Soft ask (e.g., "Would you be open to a quick call?")
- Length: Short (3-4 sentences max)
Email 2: Value-Add Follow-up
- Delay: 2-3 days after Email 1
- Focus: Provide value (case study, insight, helpful resource)
- CTA: Medium ask (e.g., "Here's how we helped [similar company]")
Email 3: Final Touchpoint
- Delay: 3-5 days after Email 2
- Focus: Breakup email (polite, respectful exit)
- CTA: Soft (e.g., "Reply 'interested' if you'd like to learn more")
Plan Limits
- Free Trial: Unlimited sequences
- Starter: 2 sequences
- Growth: 10 sequences
- Scale: 50 sequences
💡 Pro Tip
Don't send more than 3-4 emails in a sequence. Research shows reply rates drop significantly after the 3rd follow-up. Focus on quality over quantity - make each email count.
